Abbey Sailing Club is proud to be affiliated to the RYA.  Whilst we have many beginners at our club, we are not an RYA training centre, nor are we able to offer official training courses for adults or children.

What we do offer is informal help and support, to assist those who wish to self learn.  We have 24 club owned sailing dinghies, which are free for members to use.  This includes a fleet of 12 Optimist sailing dinghies, which are perfect for kids to learn on.  Other club owned dinghies include:

• 6 Toppers

• 2 Laser Picos

• 2 Wayfarers

• 1 Enterprise

• 1 Laser Stratos

Our experienced members are on hand to help show how to set up the club boats, and how to pack them away again.  We encourage all new adult members to take part in our Safety Boat training, allowing them to actively contribute to saftey on the water.

For those who prefer gaining certificates, we are able to advise on local RYA approved training centres that can give RYA Dinghy Level 1 & 2. 

Although members are free to sail at any time, most social sailing often takes place at weekends, on Wednesday nights either side of scheduled racing, or during the school holidays anytime through the week!
